A general pattern which might suit different caddis by varying size and colour. HOOK- Kamasan B175 or similar, size 12-18 THREAD- brown 6/0 RIB- gold tinsel BODY- light olive dubbing WING- coq de leon HACKLE- brown STEP 1 Mount the hook in the vice and run the thread down the shank, catching in the gold tinsel. STEP 2 Wind the dubbed body onto the hook shank. STEP 3 Rib the body with four turns and tie off. STEP 4 Prepare the coq de leon fibres for tying in, by removing them from the feather and level the tips. STEP 5 Wrap the coq de leon fibres for tying in, slightly longer the hook shank. STEP 6 Trim the waste and wrap the hackle, use a slightly smaller one than usual, as the fly should keep a low profile on the water. STEP 7 Wrap three or four turns of hackle and then whip finish for the completed fly. STEP 8 Your finished fly should look something like this, coq de leon fibres in a 30ยบ angle and levelled. STEP 9 Another view from top.
