Just in off the river, nice to be out again after the long winter months. Caught nothing, seen nothing. Still that is the cobwebs away. River Leven high & mighty. Bit of spinning I am afraid. Shook out the gremlins with the new Ambassadeur I got on E Bay. Lost one Yellow Belly to the tree Gods when I was a bit exuberant with a cast. Still rather loose a few baits & know that I was fishing the right depth than not loose any & fish too high in the water. Looks promising with the fly for later on in the season. Had a chuckle to my self, with the amount of new tackle every one has. Shinny Gye nets, new bag & clean cork handles. Santa must have been good to some. Still first morning & all that. Tight Lines

Did you manage to retrieve any hanging nylon to save birds hanging them selves.

What a strange reply. If you mean am I worried about leaving a length of nylon up a tree that could possible harm a bird, well yes. But I am afraid that it part & parcel of our fishing game that now & again we get hooked on the far back & loose our fly/bait. Being a canny Scot I hate the thought of leaving a perfectly good minnow mount up a tree but as the River is about 30yds wide & running high & mighty, recovery was out the question. Tight Lines

Highlander, were you fishing the bottom stretches? I have been looking on the robbieredball site and the LLAIA site but not much reports of fish coming off either. Very quiet by all accounts. Still its nice to be out and you never know what you might hit on the Leven! Im still out bobbing about the North Atlantic but will be getting my ticket when i come ashore so hopefully my casting hasnt deteriorated too quickly!! Tightlines

I'll leave some for you, not many but some ;D Was fishing up from Bonhill bridge above the fly only stretch. You know the run into Linbrane Hole & the Twin Pipes above that. River high, but clear. Heard of a large Springer lost at the net on fly opposite the old factory wall stream but other than a few small Sea Trout taken on worm,no sign of a fish. Still as I said nice to get the first foray over even if it meant spinning. Tight Lines
