They had 2 fish from the private beats last week.....from beat 1. I've fished the Lochy in June for the last 3 years. It's starting to show signs of coming back and their stocking program is certainly working. To be honest you can pick fish up on any of the beats in May and June. It all depends where they decide to rest. Typically these fish are not hanging about for long so as usual, it's right place, right time. I got a 16lber from the tail of beech tree on beat 4 last June, so just goes to show.
On the back of their prolific grilse run last year they are predicting a good year for "Lochy Springers" which you'll find from now until end of June.
Each beat has great pools but I would concentrate my efforts on the necks and tails as the fish are moving through quickly.
Some hots spots are:
Beat 4 - Big Rock Beat 3 - falls and Camisky pools Beat 2 - Garrabouie and Loy mouth Beat 1 - Croy
Good luck!

Hi, I will also be going up at the end of may and staying at lochy caravan and campsite. I assume that this will be part of beat 1. Who should i contact to get a permit ? Does the caravan site control part of this stretch and is it worth trying or would i best just going straight to croy.
thanks.

The private beats are all booked for 2006. The only option you have is to get a ticket to fish the tailrace, which is the bottom beat on the river. Part of it is tidal (below the tailrace) and it can be good, especially in low water. Typically early season fish (May and June) go through the bottom beats fairly quickly so there is no build up of fish until later in July and August. You may want to try the Rod and Gun shop in Fort William for imformation on permits etc.
good luck.
