Carl (Berlin) Very kindly came to a meeting of the Yorkshire Gamefishers last night to give us a talk and demo on casting. To say I was impressed is an understatement, we took our rods onto a floodlit field and Carl first demonstrated various techniques (with particular regard to loop control) then each of our "styles" was individually analysed and advice given on how to correct our deficiencies (there were many !). My own desire was to improve my distance casting and within 1/2 hour I was repeatedly putting out a full Cortland 555 floater with the backing out of the tip ring. This is something I have always aspired to doing. If he can show me how to do this in 1/2 hour I am booking a full day with him ! Highly recommended, generous and very personable, if you get chance have a lesson with him , I know I will be doing. Nick Halstead

A day with Carl was the best cash I have ever spent on fishing.

I agree with everything said above. It's just a pity this site no longer has the benefit of his expertise. It's a shame when a mindless minority spoil it for everyone else Cheers Mark

There are many that like to "talk the talk" - a only a few that can "walk the walk"....... I have yet to meet a beter allrounder then Carl..................... as some would say - it's a pity that a few twits chased him away........................

Distance casting is indeed easy. I was casting a whole line out of the top ring without any problem while fishing the Barrow Tanks the other day. Mind you, I did have a very friendly wind behind me and the reservoir bank was at least 8 feet above the water! ;D ;D ;D Allrounder ;D
