David - this is being organised over on the other side. If you need more info then PM me. Chris Why? Does this mean FFF only members are now not allowed to attend? Or are you simply using the organisation of this event to to drum up more members for your forum and alienate those that do not join? Chris have you really thought this this through? I think it sounds at best a snub to this forum and at worst petty, childish and in keeping with the criticism some have laid upon you in the last few weeks. Maybe you could reconsider this. T.P.

I have thought about it for a long time.
After posts such as O Reilly's demanding I stop organising future events on this forum and some of the abuse I have had from certain members, I would rather not put the extra effort in to organising events on here.
It's not a snub to this forum but a small minority have caused me to stop.
I stand by my decision.

Well that answers the why? But what about this: Does this mean FFF only members are now not allowed to attend? I personally think that your reaction can only reiterate what a minority of people have said about you on this forum. It would show such a greater level of maturity if you rose above the wind up comments and truly stood behind all your preaching about how your forum is not in competition with this one. I see you've now chosen to adopt the 'other side' term, so can only assume you have an 'us' and 'them' view on the forum situation. Given Invicta's recent posting of your web link it's a shame you haven't followed suit with a dismissal of any form of animosity. I have to say I now wonder why you ever visit this forum or indeed remain a member of it. T.P.

Just in case anybody needs a helping hand to find out about the Thornton social, see this link. completefisher.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24Despite what some may feel this is not designed to "drum up members" this is a fishing event, all are welcome.

Cris - dont want to start a Flame War but i am sure that Ifor and members on this forum appreciates how much effort it takes to organise and drum up interest for this event !! I'm in a dilema it's the UK SWFF forum meeting at shell island that weekend !! see www.shellisland.co.uk/shell/fish/fish.htm see ukswff.proboards26.com/index.cgi?board=meet&action=display&thread=1141395783

I didn't realise the clash until I mentioned it to KevZim. He is attending the UKSWFF meet over the CF meet so there really is no problem in anyone having to choose one over the other!
The original date had to be changed and I am reluctant to change the date again.

I fail to see any problem here. Chris is putting a lot of effort into organising a social and obviously it is easier for him to co-ordinate everything from one forum rather that split it across two or more. Makes sense to me. I had the Thornton social dates in my calender with the intention of attending.
I am already a member of 2 sea trout forums, 2 saltwater forums, 1 general fishing forum, 2 casting forums, 1 salmon forum and of course this one. In spite of this I did browse Chris's forum but I found the general culture very unappealing. I am not and will not therefore become a member of the complete fisher forum.
As this is the case, I will not know the details of the Thornton social and now that Chris has decided to take his 'toys' and only play on the other forum I don't see why I should have to send PM's or anything else.
I don't understand why we still can't have a thread on this forum, where people can sign up. After all Chris is still a member of this forum and still frequents it on a regular basis. Of course it doesn't have to be the main point of information, just a secondary back up.
Chris however has made his decision and I hope everyone has a great time. I will miss being at this social, especially since I was kept in my bed for the last social. Ifor is a fantastic host and I'm sure will be as gracious and accommodating as he was last year.

All are welcome to the Socials. It does make sense for it to be on one forum only. Lets not start a war. Be cool TobyM

Hi T.P I don't understand where you are coming from on this one?? I agree there should not be a them and us attitude and i enjoy posting on both forums. I think there should be a thread on the socials but can understand Chris not wanting to do this. The more that go to the socials the better as far as i can see so it would be nice to meet you up there. TobyM

TobyM Well Toby, given that you: a) go on both forums b) want more people at the socials c) think there should be a thread about the social on this forum maybe you could duplicate the information given out by Chris and take bookings on here and let Chris know about them. Problem solved! I am coming from the perspective that I do not visit Chris's forum and am now being excluded unless I do visit it. Simple really. T.P.
