It was a shame to miss the Social, although the fishing seems to have been a bit tough. It's always great to see everyone.
Still, a dozen fish on the buzzer in my match at Chigborough has helped me get over it ;D

Thanks to all who attended, shame a couple of people didn't turn up and didn't let me or anyone else know they weren't coming. I'm knackered - report to follow later. Also a shame a couple did turn up but couldn't find the new inn...

Sorry I didn't see anyone (except Dom briefly) on Saturday.
After waiting at the lodge from 8.15 for an hour or so without seeing anyone I went off to try my luck alone with the intention of finding people later.
Unfortunately I then proceeded to lose the sole off one wading boot, hooked myself in the back of the head, miss a couple of takes and generally cast like a complete idiot on the first time out for a few months.
At this stage I was in a thoroughly bad mood and decided to get off home early. Maybe next time.

Sorry Elton that's my fault for totally underestimating how long it wold take all of us to get our backsides into gear in the morning and get to the lodge. My 45 minute estimate when you rang turned into a bum steer.

Well after two days of fishing from the bank in rain and gale force winds today was to be the first time I had trout fished from a boat and to be honest I wasn't sure whether I would enjoy it or not, especially as more rain was forecast. However I have to say it was FANTASTIC experience! Here are a few pics from the day ... Oh joy ... CBs into the first fish of the day and I haven't has a pull yet ... Wow ... I had a pull!! Er ... no I didn't. Thats more like it ...! An average brownie (returned). Blimey, it's getting a bit choppy ... Time to move. Leisuredgentleman and Rosie on the last leg of their 'round Blagdon tour Oh no ... he's only gone and caught ANOTHER one ! What - no smile, CB? ... that's a 3lb plus fish! ;D ;D It was a real shame the weather was so atrocious for those camping but it's the sort we get in the Mendip Hills in late March early April, I'm afraid. However, I thoroughly enjoy the whole weekend and it was really great to meet and chat to so many of you in person. Special thanks to Chris for all his efforts - if anyone deserved to catch a few it was you, mate! - and to Trout for helping to make it all happen. Special mention to CB who patiently put up with clumsy casting and unnecessary tangles caused by his novice boat partner, although I do recall getting thwacked in the head by a bloody great Bead Head Damsel! ;D ;D ;D ;D Two things are for sure - I'll definitely be out in a boat again and I'll be keen to attend another social. Allrounder ;D

Windy Windy Windy. I fished Blagdon today in the boat with my brother and all we could muster up was 1 fish each. My first cast was to a fish next to the dam. The fish had a o at the fly but did not connect. A few mins later m brother had one. At his point we where starting to to think we were hoing to have a easy day.. How wrong we were. Didnt get another fish in the boat untill 2:30. However i did get the chance to meet countryboy and allrounder who made us feel very welcome down there neck of the woods. Oh and i did get wind burn on the side of my face.

Hi Dipper. Allrounder and I did fish the byewash on Sunday for a couple of hours but it only produced two fish for us. Spider and Starsky also give it a good bash but I reckon you emptied it in Friday C.B

Dipper We anchored up near the byewash in the same place as you and your brother did on friday, according to CB. CB We had 3 fish by the Bywash - your 2 rainbows and my brownie - then you had your 3lb plus fish in Pipe Bay. Allrounder ;D

Didn't get a touch, not even on a Peach Blob! Allrounder ;D
