Hey Dave read the article - very good.
I expect the easiest way to get around the loch is to walk the shore line as the banks look a bit hard going. I take it waders and a back pack are essential piece of kit then ?
Am a bit worried about casting a long line, I might manage half that ;D

Lol Paul,
welll thats me bought my new tent for the outing and I also bought a new Camera Lens for those long distance photographs.
I may be getting a limited quantity of those backpacks that you see me wearing in the article. It is a great peice of kit with the water pack in it and plenty of space for all those bits and pieces.
In fact it is the same as the new Hardy one without the front pack and I will be selling my ones for about £25 each which is pretty good as the Hardy ones are £150 and a std camlebak for mountain biking with no storage is £40.00.
Let me know if anyone is intrested in them.
Cheers
Dave

I personaly have found that stout walking boots or wellies are far more suited to this lochs terrain than waders. Whilst wading can give you better access in some spots deep water/drop offs are found close inshore & trout will not be far away. The terrain can be very dangerous & can catch out the unwary. So those that are going & have not fished a peat bog loch be very wary of where you step. Tight LInes

Scapaflow11,
I do not charge for B&B if I like you, I have an open house. I am mearly offering a service to my mates as they would find these very useful for any-type of fishing or they can go spend a fortune.
Oh and yes I am always selling things on this site, have you ever found any of my information I have posted over the years useful? Well I never charged you for that did I, nor did I charge you for the Comps I have run, or the charity comps that are at my cost well into three figures (all monies going to childern in need). I never charged you for all the hours I put in providing very detailed fly-tying information in step by step's at no gain to me, only gain to those who are interested. I for one provide information that not many so called comp anglers give.
This is your first posting in this thread, so are you coming to the outing or not? If not then why are you here? Just to get on my back, I really cannot be bothered with people who only put constant negative comments. I hope to see you at the outing and hope you can make it and not for the reason you may be thinking.
I wish people would judge after a face to face meeting instead of judging behind a mask of a hidden identity. I do not hide and I have no reason to do so
All the best
Dave Downie
PS please call me by my name as you know what it is. Oh and one other thing that I forgot I gave and I repeat Gave all that peacock herl away thousands of quills with lovely dyed peacock herl on them for free, never charged a penny. Did you not get any, pity I still have some left drop me a PM and I will send you an address to send me a SAE and I will send you some for free also. Chop Chop Cheerie Bye

Peekers, Alan is right in many ways, but wellies are not that well suited as the peat bogs are pretty deep at times and you can sink to above the knee so you would loose yer wellies so where would ye be? I wear my chesties breathable ones and the going is hard at times, but we will be in no rush unlike when we go witht he bus as you only have a certain amount of time. There will also probably be 2 people fishing together for safety etc.. The shore line is not that bad, you sometimes have to navigate around the peat bogs when fishing the shore line but most of the time you are walking on gravel. The hardest part is actually getting along to the Loch form the road. It will be excellent and good fun and the fishing will be great, I can feel it and you never know we may even be able to get the Highlander up there with us, eh Kype Cheers Dave

Dave, I was thinking of attending with Josh but I'm a bit concerned regarding the latest posts regarding the peat bogs. He has hiking boots and wellies but no waders that fit him. Do you think he will be ok as long as he fishes shore line and obviously I will stay beside him?

He will be ok Ian, there are two water one right next to the road. Anyways the bog are only getting exagurated so people do take care. As long as you are there or others it will be fine for him. He really does not want to miss it Cheers Dave

Ian When i used to go with the club, there were plenty of juniors there and there was never any problems, just the odd welly overfill and we've all done that !! I know what your thinking and can understand he will be OK ......as long as he does not catch the biggest fish again he'll be safe from us!!

Daver
Thanks for the offer of the bag pack at a reasonable price , I am getting fed up with companies ripping me off with over priced goods this forum is a good place to find who is doing reasonable deals , I am dissappointed Scapaflow does not see it this way. If I'm at Loch Ba does the price include you carrying it for me , you know I like a big pack lunch.
P
PS - away back to yer garden pond ( short *rse )
