The original post asks for suggestions and is a feeler not a set in stone event. If there is a response I will organise a small event. Banter is the precursor to any GOOD get-together anyway. The best thing in Rotherham is the A629 To Halifax, and Skipton. I wonder if thats the route my granparents took. Gary

My sister lives in Bridlington, does that give me exemption from the no outsiders rule? According to my reckoning that makes you an 'Umbersider by proxy. Not the same thing owd lad. We might offer you an affiliated day ticket though as your bugs and bugging techniques would be most welcome. Think of it as an overseas secondment. Then you can go back and do missionary work. ;D Also have family in Driffield, Beverley and Cottingham if that helps my case ;D As for the missionary work, no time for it, I'm fishing.

As long as it doesn't clash with my date with the wild trout of the Liffey I'm up for it.

I'd be up for this one. Attercop Oh aye. First sniff of free fishing and the Scousers are round like flies. Flies - Spider. Geddittt? ;D Where does it say its free. Yorkshire invented wire, when two tykes spotted a sixpence on the pavement. You like to be called carefull, but we all know that is the same as tight ;D Last time I was in Yorkshire I had to pay to take a leak, they even had a turnstile, reminded me a bit of Elland Road, I half expected to come out in the "cowshed" I've put some smilies in, can I still come. And Alans quetion was- " Name me two first class famous comedians from Yorkshire". Spider

Listen lad, and Spider too, we've got miles of free river fishing on the Calder, Holme & Don so we don't want to be paying fancy prices. This is a Yorkshire Social after all. How can we be social after spending our brass? Gary, I seem to recall that my school ruler was endorsed 'West Riding Education Authority'.

Do you allow us (born in) North Yorkshire types or is it strictly for the West/South Yorkshire crew?

Something tells me there may be (excellent) beer and (the best) pies at this outing. So many choices of where to fish though.........

Depending on dates, I'm in. About time I came up to see the relatives. Make it later next season and I'll be able to watch Leeds' first game back in the Premiership as well. Although a southern softie these days - had to move in disgrace after winning Church Fenton school sports day cup after using chewing gum to hold the egg on the spoon - I'm from York. If more proof's required, Mum from Halifax and Dad from Selby, grandparents from etc etc. ;D

You've started something now Gary. It seems that there are two types of people - Yorkshire folk and them that wants to be.

As Dickie Bird says ' You never ask if a man is from Yorkshire - If he is he will tell you - If he isn't you don't want to disappoint him!'
I live in Huddersfield and will be happy to attend.
