I was advised on this forum to use 'Hook & Hackle' for rod building equipment. I have now placed an order but wondering how long they usually take to ship to the UK??

You'll find that H & H dispatch their orders pretty pronto but that doesn't mean you'll receive the goods that quickly - my last order took 30 days.

Don't worry they will arrive. Last time in Uk my stuff was hammered by Customs and parcel force but still good price. This month their doing good deals on Loomis blanks and building kits. Soon to release the GLX 4 piece blanks!!!

ScottRods,
How long did you end up waiting when this happened? Do customs write to you to say that they have an item that needs tax to be paid? I ordered a rod kit 2 weeks ago but leaving to go abroad on the 19th of September and need to have built the rod by then..... cutting it fine I know.
Many thanks,
Tom

I ordered a rod kit from H&H a few months ago.
Bob dispatched it the day after my order arrived. It took exatly 28 days before I got a card from Royal Mail to say that it was awaiting collection and payment of Duty and Tax at the sorting office

Sometimes I've waited 3 weeks before Parcel Farce have delivered a card to advise of payment. I even rang them because they had it at their Nottingham centre and that was 30miles from me. They wouldn't have it any other way. I had to drive there and pay 27 quid for the privledge of them releasing it.
Sometimes I got lucky.

The package arrived at the weekend, all good. The only issue was the £26 that I was stung for import tax - £8 however seemed to be 'admin' for Parcelforce... must be making a killing on this. Many thanks for the advice guys.

I'm still waiting on some stuff from H&H.
Above posts mention £26 and £27 import tax. Is this what i can expect, or is it relative to the cost of the equipment bought?

My mate just bought a new Sony Ericsson K750i from Aussie to NZ and customs here hit him with an $80 import tax cost. Still cheaper than NZ.
