Gillaroo,
What does your post have to do with the main point being made here? No-one is against being informed of the opportunity of a last minute deal due to a cancellation. There is a Classified section for that very purpose. That is where the information should be posted. For the Administrator and the Moderator (since when has Lewin been a Moderator and who voted for him?) to set up their own private section, for their exclusive use smacks of "everyone is equal but some are more equal than others".
So if we are posting on here, let us deal with the point at issue please - exclusivity and an apparent bending of the rules by the administrator, not bleat on about the usefulness of getting news of last minute deals.

Cothi
I think a question needs to be asked of Simon and invicta and that is, should an example arise as I mentioned with FG's trip to Iceland then what rules and requirements are there to post such an offer in the Last Minute section? Is it exclusivity on their part? Also are there any costs incurred? The thread states that you should email Simon to list an offer.

BTW Lambs bleat!

Let's not lose sight of the fact that we all use this forum free of charge. If Invicta and/or Simon find a way of making some funds as a result, I don't have a problem with that.
Also, remember that the last minute deals forum is not forced on us. If we don't want to view it, we don't have to. There is nothing sneaky or underhand about what they are doing, the forum is overtly commercial.
I would encourage the forum owners to change the name of the forum to "Bargains" and to offer a slot to retailers too, so that the latest tackle bargains on offer can be viewed by all of us, in one place, with a minimum of surfing. Maybe we'd even get some special offers for forum members.

I have no problem if the administrator is using credible operators and he ought to be fit to benchmark that. The last thing you want on this board is a bunch of chancers trying to sell dodgy badly put together deals. Angling Club Lax-a are a well known and sound outfit and as long as credible postings are being made from people like this then that at least it gives those of us who wish to travel (like me) a chance to pick up something that might not otherwise become available. Nobody is forcing me to look at it, I'm a big boy and I will make my own mind up!

Except this (or any other) Board is not "free." You either 'buy off' ProBoard's Goggle advertising, or you get what you get. That said, the posts are 'searched' for general ongoing topics which, over time, will tend to drive the type of advertising you see in the Banners. Beyond that, you can bring in your own advertising to replace ProBoards. The 'buy out' route is $7.00 per 50,000 "hits;" hits as in site visits, not posts. With a board this size/number of views per day you will burn through this number far faster than you'd suspect. Sooo .... whose willing to send Invicta a few quid to off set .....?

I have no doubt the considerable traffic attracts sufficient advertising to cover all costs, including paying off google which is currently not being done.

Some fair comments in this thread - I've taken these on board and the Last Minute Trip board is now within the classified area.
To clarify, yes - the last minute trip board is commercial nature but at the same time the intention is to give access to fishing that would otherwise be unavailable or would cost more than it does here. I've discussed the guidelines with Simon and unless the content fits into this category it won't be listed.
Cheers,
Invicta
