Only just discovered this UN report that Scotland is the most violent country in the developed world. www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-1786945,00.html Isuppose it doesm'y matter whether you are a catholic buddhist or a protestant buddhist. Sad to see such table topping performance.

no gander. its the buckfast effect. i used to laugh at my workmates misunderstanding off the drugs problem.when i said that for every person with a drug problem there were 1000 folks with a drink problem,they always said i was mad, but it has now been proven ,and if anything, i wildly underestimated the number of folks with drink rather than drugs problems. jim

carsington, I agree its not a good statistic but you should have mentioned that the same report had england & wales in second top place and only 0.2% lower at 2.8% as the population of england is aprox 10 times that of scotland i think will take my chances here

Saw a report that England had the largest hooligan rate with France second. I would have thought Germany was topping the ratings there or at least second.

Perhaps the level of violence is directly related to how bad a country is at football. Countries such as Italy and Spain have safer streets. We will have to see how quickly England exits from the World Cup ...
... though of course the problem could be modern golfing beviour leaking out to society in general?
