Hi macrickster, Welcome to the forum, I'm sure you'll find it very helpful. My friend and I with our 3 sons have going to Swanswater near Stirling mainly for the boys as they run the Cygnets for under 16's and they have been getting casting lessons as well as fly tying. Mainly fished the White Cart with little luck but will persevere. Tight lines.

Ricky, We usually go up on a Sunday and have to be there for 9.00 for the cygnets, takes between 45 mins & 1 hour. I don't drive so we go with my friend Bravo75 on the forum. There are two small ponds and Swanswater itself but as we are all beginners have stuck to the small ponds so far. They can be difficult due to the number of trees but everybody is so friendly and helpful. It can get very busy at weekends but well worth a visit IMO. Ian

macrickster,
a place well worth giving a try is millhall reservoir in polmont, 2 minutes off the M9. The fishing is good with plenty off room for the novice caster. the staff are pleasant and the fish are good quality running to app 13lb. unfortunately the water is closed until the 4th march, but the hut is checked everyday. can be contacted on 01324 714190. it is also a troutmaster water so there is always reports in TF

If you make Swans on sunday, try a bloodworm pattern or something bright red or orangein a fritz off the island where the channel meets the big water. from the right of the island fish a humungus on a fast int or slow sinker straight into larger part of water. There may be some weed obout 15-18 feet out which will feel like fish pulls. persivere as the fish hit just before you get to the weed.
Tight lines
