Your right jim,
Ive been on the fillan twice and its been horrendous. Rain, sleet, hailstones you name it. Not much fun when your up to your waist in ice cold water either, although one of the days was productive with four fish ranging from 3/4 pound to the biggest 1.75lb. Lovely fish in excellent condition. That day the water level was high and dropping off. Second day, last monday, river down at almost summer level and never saw or touched a fish yet good sunny spells with sporadic olive hatches all day. Never took my kick sample net. d**n. Strange the way there was apparently no fish rising to these hatches. Stuck to wieghted nymphs most of day.Soldiered on till 6.30pm and called it a day. Freezing. BLANK no 1 of season. Plus my waders have sprung a leak . oopsy. Hope i dont turn it into a habit. Wouldnt be sporting if we caught every time. Excuses eh. Dougie, we will wait a while yet till lighter nights and warmer winds.

Just want to thank Tweed for a cracking evening on the Fillan last night. My relentless pressure paid off!! ;D Levels were a bit low and conditions weren't great but I managed to get a couple of Brownies on an F fly - superb. Once again mate, thanks for taking the time out to show me along this wonderful wee river - I had a blast and last night I rediscovered why I go flyfishing. You should be a guide mate! If you haven't fished a river - DO IT THIS YEAR!! ;D Dougie.

No probs Dougie it was a pleasure Great the way the river came to life at dusk with free rising trout, baited breath and thumping heart. Thats what fly fishings all about. "Guiding" again with another guy tomorrow night. Will remember led this time and stay on into dark. Tight Lines Tweed
