Any Londoners fancy a trip to the Nith, Dumfries, to try for a back end salmon?
Leave Friday night, fish saturday, drink saturday night, back in The smoke for afternoon tea sunday.

About the lock-in, my cousin owns a pub on the white sands ;D shall i tell him you're coming ;D ;D ;D

One of the "benefits" of living in London, I have been to the Tweed on the same timetable 7 times this year and last weekend fished the Derwent on a similiar scale, but got to fish Sunday.
Never found a lock in to be a problem I start to drift off around 2am. Locals think I am mad and that helps.
If only the Thames had a proper run of salmon, sea trout!!

I've done the same thing this year too, although I leave on thursday so I can get two days fishing in. I also don't stop at the borders - I fish the Averon.
10-12 hours up and 10 hours back. It actually isn't that bad. The first morning early rise is the worst.

Guinea, you must have a benevolent employer, getting a Friday off work, scandalous!!!
Well worth the drive north to escape London.
I reckon 5.5 hours to the Nith similair to Coldstream but a better road across the A66.
May need your cousin in Whitesands to be open at 11.30 on FRiday night Braveheart.
