I have a standing invite to go stay with friends who live a stone's throw from Grafham. I fancy another crack at this place, have only caught one fish from about 5 trips! I was thinking about going down sometime in mid to late October...is this a good time for cashing in on trout that are fry-bashing? I could do with some local knowledge so would be nice to hook up with someone whilst I'm down there...anyone interested?!

I would love to say yes but I am not sure when an American friend is coming over to fish Ravensthorpe with me
Mebbe I could let you know closer to the time if no-one else comes forward and I am free

If you do go...arm yourself with a big fry imitation..ie, Minkie.. and look for sea gull activity. They will show you where to have a cast or two.

Savages was the place when I used to fish there The big fish get trapped up the creek by the fense across it. One evening a friend and I had a limit each. Not 1 fish under 4lb, largest 9lb Rainbow and an 8lb brown. Them were the days..... JRT

I'd be interested in a trip up to Grafham depending on the date.

Hi Chris
Sorry for my late reply, I'd put this on a backburner.........I've been recovering from an operation and couldn't face a big mission such as this yet. I'll update the thread when I think I have a date in mind.
Cheers!

Ah
Change of plan Going down to Rutland next Sat to do some fry-bashing, and perhaps a little pike flyfishing (is Rutland good for pike???!) If anyone else from the forum will be on Rutland that day let me know, always good to put names to faces! You can't miss me, 6'5" of pure Yorkshire simpleton.
