Doods & Foxy, Only having a bit of banter with the Scots, seeing as they are doing so well at the moment! I rate the Welsh and Irish highly as I've fished with some of their best and know what they are capable of. Next year will see two more hotly fought encounters! Oh, and by the way, I fish the Irish Loughs every year so I know what "hard fishing" is all about! Fatbloke

Congrats to all the qualifiers, very tough I heard, makes a change for it not to be "speed" comp.
I think the Bristol / Bath contingent need a mention, well done Musky(A Haskins) , Gurn, T.Baldwin, Paul Golding, Mark Withyman and Andrew Hedger. ;D
Hope all goes well in Ireland and Brenig.
Cheers

Harder than usual seems more like it. You english guys don,t seem to appreciate the very good waters you have in England. As others have said above, try Loch Leven or some of the big Irish loughs, and then you will know the meaning of the words "hard" and "tough". This is NOT a dig at the English, just pure fact.

Piscator, You may well be right when you say " harder than normal". I'm sure all the lads who fish in competitions on English reservoirs will appreciate what you are saying. We are fortunate to have well stocked lakes but we have the problem of fishing in man made fisheries and the inherrant problems that go with them. If you've fished the English Reservoirs then you will know how difficult they can be at times. The Scots and Irish lads have the good fortune to fish, in the main, for wild fish. I would love to have the opportunity to fish our eliminators on natural waters but I'm afraid it will never be! The terms "Hard" and "tough" are relevant to where you fish! Fatbloke

Well done to my friend Andy Green. He has,I think, been to twelve finals and at last qualified in style as English champion. And all on nymphs and buzzer which he does best. He is a very thorough and dedicated angler. He was beginning to think if it was worth the time, effort and money. No doubt he thinks it does now - Well done mate.
