That's an interesting post. You are right in that anglers are led to believe there are prizes all the way through. Are we being misled? Although it is not known what is happening to the Airflo , it was a competition where there were prizes for the teams and individuals at the regional finals and national. Of course success leads to another bill for fishing and practice. How was it at Chew and who got through?

I must say (for once) I have to agree with ETTG comments on prizes ( or rather lack of them ) at matches. l fished in the English Final of the TEFO at Chew last year with my team "Rutland Kingfishers''. The whole team had spent four consecutive weekends at Chew practising, developing fly patterns, learning areas, spending time and a lot of effort to gain that victory. All we got presented with was a bill for the two day international final !! Even a baseball cap would have been gratefully accepted as a way of recognition for all our efforts. Something to keep as a momento. What really surprises me is that at the preliminary first rounds of the same event the winning teams got cheques for £100. It seems only the English final winners missed out on prizes. Rutland Kingfishers were fortunate in the two day final, placed third with a cheque for £500 but when you take out the fishing fees, accomodation etc. It doesn't take a mathematician to work out the club had a huge deficit in funds, despite that prize money. Imagine the cost to those unfortunate teams who had travelled to Rutland for the two day event and went home totally prize-less!! The individual events must generate more income than the team entries to afford the prizes that are given to the winners? I had hoped it would be different this year? Seems it isn't !

And no mention of when we won the first ever Hardy which was fished on the one day because of bad weather? Apart from the winners cheque, the team won a Flybox each! no medals! Oh the prestige of winning eh?

Well at least you got a prize........albeit a flybox.....it's better than nothing !!! And as for winning over just one day, well you can hardly be held responsible for that terrible weather, just as well you won it properly the following year!! oh don't forget we all got a bottle ( ok then half a bottle ) of single malt, in fact all the teams got one!! just as a momento. Although I was informed that at a following Hardy event the ''top bag'' over the two days got an umbrella!!!! can't say I'd have much use for that during a match

The organiser of the Hardy clearly stated in the advertising bumf before the event that the winner "would have a life changing experience." Which of cause he has. He no longer gets wet in the rain.
