hi guys i am planning my first sea fishing trip this weekend..anybody catching bass on the fly in ireland at the moment? and is it to early to try for a sea trout in the sea ..i'm on the south coast They say the bass are just starting to come on to the shore this month. Sea trout are always available as they tend to stay within a 10 th 20 mile radius of their spawning rivers. I know of a few sizeable seatrout taken this month in Carlingford loch on the North side. Cheers, J.

my first visit to the sea to fly fish on Sunday. Got there just after high tide.. this is a low water mark and I planned to fish the droping tide..i had two bass on the fly , 2lbs/4lbs... in the first hour. I fished it all the way out and about an hour after the turn with no further success...
but all is well with the world the bass are back...

Excellent news.
I'm hoping to get out this weekend.
You wouldn't mind giving us some idea how far north/south/east/west you were?

I was on the south coast /west cork.. fishing on an open sandy beach. Floating line, the fly has just a long blue fox hair wing, white underbody, silver rib..
