I have just booked a holiday with my wife to Turks and Caicos at the end of January. Can anyone offer any info on the fishing there? I have also just returned (November) from my second visit to Alphonse Island, Seychelles. Now that is superb SWFF. If anybody wants to hear more about it, let me know! Monpaul.

Thanks for the web sites, David. Most web sites I have found on TCI seem to feature Harbour Club Villas, and I'm pleased to say that is where we are staying for two weeks. It sounds too good to be true, but it's sure to be better weather than here at home!. Regards, Monpaul

Thanks for that, Frequent Flyer. A very interesting article. The place we are staying is right on the water and they do have kayaks for guests' use. We leave next Wednesday for 16 days ;D and my biggest problem at the moment is packing 4 rods, 4 reels, flies and the rest around the wife's kitchen sink. I'll post the results, good or bad, when I return! Cheers, Monpaul.

We stayed at Harbour Club Villas on Provodenciales but was disappointed with the fishing. The guides are very expensive (circa $495 for a half day and $850 for a full day) and I was told you need to travel to the other Caicos Islands for good bone fishing so it has to be a full day - too much for me. I did most of my fishing in Flamingo and Turtle Lakes - very muddy bottom and smell a bit. The bones weren't easy to find but on one occasion I did come across a shoal feeding and managed to pick off about a dozen or so (mostly small fish) before a barracuda came through and scattered them. I couldn't find them at all after that for the rest of the afternoon. I took a share on a blue water boat ($850 for a half day) and never even saw a fish! All in all - nice Island, nice people but don't go for the fishing!

Returned this week from Provo and had 3 trips out with Barr Gardener. He's probably the most experienced guide on the Island and a really nice guy. He also charges a bit less than most of the other guides ($400/half day, $650/full day.) We saw bones in reasonable numbers on all 3 occasions. This included a day on the south side of the island so you don't have to go to other islands to find fish. Wind was very strong on two of the days which made casting difficult but I did catch fish !
