Bob, South Cornwalls not my area so cant help with locations. However I did start a thread on the old FishnFly forums regarding what peoples ' default ' settings would be when fishing a new venue with little or no local information. Picking over the bones of it the concensus seemed to be either a weight forward floating or intermediate line ( I use a #8 ). Leaders anywhere between 6' and 9' of around 10lb b/s . Type of leader varied from straight through mono, tapered leaders and braid with a mono tippet. As for flies its much down to personal preference. Clousers and decievers are popular, but trout lures like a cats whisker can be effective too. Preferred colours vary but chartruese / white combinations seem to do the job as do blue / white during bright conditions . As dusk approaches a dark coloured fly seems to be the thing to use.
Hope I've been of some help,
Martin

Re location there's not much to tell really, a question of heading out on the coast path and finding a spot on the rocks where you can cast into a gully, perhaps try for a Pollack - fast sinking line and C & W Clouser to start. If I find myself with a seal for company I like to think I'm in a good spot!
I've not fished it, but getting schoolies from the estruary wouldn't be an unreasonable expectation.
Btw there's been a bit of kick-up about a proposed 'no take zone' around Looe recently, agreed to in principle but the area covered is still in discussion.
Good luck!!!

Where did you hear about the "NO TAKE ZONE" Is this a local thing or a proper MAFF idea?
Whatever, I like the idea alot and it wouldn't hurt to have something like this in other area's around our coastline too.

Gonzo, It's a local initiative and a good one it seems to me, I'm no expert but anything that relieves the pressure on the breeding stocks must be a good move.
