I am looking for something to store my materials and tools in, as the old shoe boxes are a bit of a disaster area!! I was thinking about a rack of plastic drawers or something similar. Any suggestions on what to use/where i can get something suitable from?

you can buy special cases for them, william joseph does them but they are very bricy. the best thing you can use is a fair size tool box something like ; www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=101360&ts=66002&id=60332i have one simular but from B&Q and it was only around £20 its got a big drawer on the bottom to place all ur capes and meterials then you got a few smaller sliding draws whch are perfect for spools of thread and beads and hooks then the top part can store all tools and vise mine even gets my lamp inside. when its in the way you ccan roll it in the garage or shed or wherever soso handy best part of my kit.LOL cheers gitto ;D

I use a set of plastic drawers which hold the bulk of it but much of the other stuff is in plastic wallets or sealable boxes.
Visit your local Wilkinsons store they have loads of stuff that can be used.
Cheers Alan.

I bought a plywood drawer chest from Homebase a couple of years back that works a treat - 3 slim drawers at the top (tools + threads + hooks) 3 medium drawers in the middle (capes/feathers + furs/skins + artificial materials) and two large drawers at the bottom (vice, lamp etc.)
Wasn't exactly 'cheap' at about £30 but I'd definitely buy another if I was in the same situation.
Cheers,

£30 is a bargain if it stops the "tidy that up!!" noise i keep hearing

Billy
I still use the original box i got from Evans of Cardiff. Its a plastic cantilever jobbie - looks a bit like a sea fishermans gear box - but I too will be changing soon , probably to a large toolbox. Problem with them is that they're not designed for our somewhat unusual pastime !

I have a tool box for the vice(s), hooks etc. The feathers and fluff are stored in ring binders with those office see thro plastic envelopes(one per cape or wing etc). I ve separated the binders into capes, bits of bird, fur and fritz etc. That way they are out of reach from the wee man and are easily identified. I tried the b&q drawer box but found after a evening at the vice everything mixed up. Its cheap as well, looks good on the book cabinet and well organized. (God I sound anal)
