Deer hair can be used for many patterns, mostly sedges. If the hair is spinning it can be used for muddlers too. Wild boar is less used in fly-tying, but you could use it represent the antennae on sedge-patterns. If the patches come from a flyshop, no worries, if it comes from a hunter, please take care that it is well prepared. It might hold bugs and mites, and even eggs of these creatures. These little insects may ruin the entire contents of your fly-box... Best, Hans.

Thanks for your response !
The patched are from a hunter, What would be the best and cheapest way to get rid of any mite etc ? Freeze the patches ?
Cheers again

Get yourself a box of traditional moth balls, cheep and cheerful, and will keep everything bug and mite free. Simply crush part of a mothball with pliers, and put in the bags you keep your feathers, deer hair, capes, hare, rabbit etc. Top up when needed.
