I was going to try and get hold of some decent felt tips for marking flies.
I nearly fainted when i saw sportfish sellings packs of 5 markers for £25!
Any suggestions?

Other than "don't buy felt tips at sportfish as they're hellish expensive sounding" ? Hmm... could always try Staples I guess... www.staples.co.ukCheers,

Letraset pens available in most craft shops. They have 2 or 3 tips and come in a huge range of colours including so excellent natural hues.

search on ebay for pantone pens - sometimes some bargains to be had - the three nib pantones are about £5 each even from letraset - the packs they sell have a limited choice of colours - probably good enough but if you have a particular shade in mind the pantones are the way to go - hundreds of shades

A while back I got the Letraset set Dave mentioned. They are good but take a few minutes to dry before they are fast. The colours do not seam to have been chosen by a fly tier but most are OK. Certainly is much better value than the Sportfish ones you mentioned. They are double ended - a broad and a fine tip. Mine came from Pat at Fly tech but I'm certain Nigle at Lakeland does them as well as others.
Before I got these I used Edding pens available for a bit over £2 each from Lathkill. The Edding pens dry faster but are only single ended. You may be able to find them available for less through a stationary supplier.
Cheers Alan.

I bought some kurecolor waterproof pens from flybuyer.com. Chisel tip and finerpoint on each pen @ £4.00ish . I think virtual-nymph do a range as well. As with most of the pens used in colouring flies, they fade unless varnished over. Hope this helps although they are not cheap.
Good hunting
