The pattern was popular in the mid to late sixtys on Loch Leven and accounted for a lot of trout last thing at night. Hence the name. As to inventor or originator I have no information but I was given this pattern by an old regular. I have not used it in 20 years but I can still remember the takes from big browns during the last half hour of fishing into the darkness.
Hook L/S size 12 Tail Gray Squirrel Tail Rib Fine Gold Wire Body 4 Palmered Hackles in the following order Badger,Scarlet,Badger then Black at the front
Thats it I am sure it will still work in the right situation when big sedges are about. The takes are arm wrenching. I'll need to go and have small refreshment now and sit in a dark room for a bit as I am having a bit dejay vou.
Here is a picture of one found lurking in a forgotton fly box.
Regards Dastrout
I have a photo but I have not sussed out how to get it on here yet Help somebody.

Many thanks Dastrout. I'll tie up a couple and try them out on the big ones over here,[our season starts at the end of this month]. We do have a lot of sedges so things might get lively. I love to get a Scot all melancholic and broody. Incidentally our Tasmanian trout originally came from Loch Leven. I also wanted to stick a little a little jpeg on my profile but I can't work it out either. Perhaps one of the knowledgable ones can help us. Look forward to seeing it if you manage it. Cheers. Taspom.

Hi Dastrout, Your other jpegs might have failed but the one that you sent me privately arrived ok and is a great colour shot of the All Night Final. I've thanked you through the forum in the hope that Invicta or the other contributors can help us poor mortals who are sans a web site, to download jpegs that are just ordinary pics on our computers. I have a little sketch that I would like to put on the side of my posts.but I can't paste it . What the hell is an avatar anyway? Cheers TPP
