Hello all,
I've been tinkering at my vice and aside a few variations on older themes - I'm not getting much inspiration in terms of new patterns to tie.
Has anyone got a new'ish proven pattern they'd they'd like to share (for example the Sir Jasper and some of the flies on Hoppy's site)?
The one bit of inspiration I have had led me away from the black which goes with so many ST flies and hopefully might be a simple 1/2 decent baitfish imitation...it has colouring like "Papa Smurf" when completed! The logic was to create a "fishy" body with the blue to attract and the red head to irritate and act as an aiming point. _______________________________________________________ Mount: Bare 3/4", 1" and 1.5" aluminium tubes Head thread: Hi-vis red Wing: Small pinch of white goat overlaid with 6-8 strands pearl crystal flash overlaid with small pinch light/mid-blue goat. Wing repeated on opposite side of tube (can exchange goat for squirrel/llama/arctic fox etc) Cheeks: JC ______________________________________________________
I'll be trying it out tomorrow night but if anyone else is sitting at the vice later and fancies having a go then please let me know how you get on.
Cheers
Jon
