Fishing has really taken off now with daily rod averages of 5+ per rod and a large amount of overwintered fish showing. Most fish are being taken on the floating line with buzzers appearing more than anything else on the catch returns, however dry fly sport has been superb! Paul Weiss, fishing yesterday took a lovely 8 fish bag on red bob's bits with most his fish being fin perfect 2lb - 4lb overwintered rainbows. Best rainbow of the week so far is (one of many 4lb fish!) 4lb 14 oz and best Brown 5lb 9oz to Gordon Page on a black buzzer. A number of 4lb + browns have been caught in the last 2 weeks but we still haven't seen a rainbow over 5lb this season although the place is full of them! This Sunday 21st we are hosting a heat of the Airflo Classic match. For further details or to speak to one of the wardens please ring on 01865 863033

Hi Sage
Not sure if you mean the airflo OR the fishing! The Airflo heat is bank only.
As for the fishing the vast majority of people are fishing from the banks, that's not to say the boats aren't fishing as well because if anything they're better but sadly they are vastly underused here at Farmoor. I know it's probably because the bank fishing is consistently very good but I do feel not enough people realise just what a good top of the water fishery Farmoor can be. At the moment you can take a boat out drifting and catch cracking overwintered fish ALL day long on dry fly but the boats sit there on our lovely shiny new pontoon not being used!

Excellent, if it wasn't for the predicted 25mph winds this week I'll be down there.

Paul, Paul,
Many thanks for the report. As a NE Scotland angler I only get down to Farmoor about once a year. Will be fishing there next month when I hope to be fishing with my rookie son-in-law.
Have you got a recomendation for him please. Boat or bank?
