Hello all
A colleague of mine keeps raving about Eyebrook. He says i'm mad for never having visited the place. I've checked the website and it does indeed look a nice place. So i've decided to visit early next month. Does anyone have any tips or practical advice for fishing there that they would like to share with me?
Thanks in advance. MJ

The only advice I would give is to get there. It's a lovely place and the fish are lively.

Personally I think it is overrated - it is very pretty and the people are very nice but I've been there three times and found most people struggling, although I've caught each time. At the FFF social weekend there last year there were quite a few blanks although some were alcohol induced ;D
Depending on where you live I would say that Ravensthorpe is just as pretty and the fishing is twice as good or Rutland is fishing better. The fish at both of those are much bigger on average than at Eyebrook in my experience.

Hi,
I've fished Eyebrook annually for several years on a corporate day and the fishing has improved quite a lot both in terms of numbers and size of fish although we struggle in high summer.
Quality of fish has always been good.
Most methods seem to work and the staff are very up on what is taking. The nice thing about Eyebrook is that the fish are often high in the water, dry fly can be very effective and good sport. Hard to cast to specific fish but just cast a good sized fly in an area of rising fish and wait for the savage take.
Good luck

I fish Eyebrook a couple of times a season and have done for many years. The past couple of years I have been very disappointed in the quality of fish I've caught. Especially this year when they've made a point of saying that the stock is 2-3lb average. I went on Good Friday and caught 5 rainbows...all under 1 1/2lb and with very ragged tails.
I know it is early in the season and they were obviously newly stocked but I stilll can't see any excuse for it. In the past couple of seasons I've fished Ravensthorpe a fair bit and have caught 100+ fish.....not a single one looking anything like a stockie....all full tailed torpedos.
