Hi All
Has anyone got any info about Rocklands mere fishery, ie size of lake, quality of fish etc. I've only just found out about it and as it is not too far from me, I thought I'd give it a go.
Cheers
Stewart

Hi Stewart.... Thanks for the interest. The lake is just over an acre in size. Stocking comprises of rainbow and brown trout averaging 2lb with some grown on browns to 4lb and rainbows to 6lb. It has quickly become renouned for its evening rises and at the moment, as you would expect hawthornes are scoring well. Catch and release is permitted and is policed closely so all fish remain in immaculate condition. Pop in some time for a coffee or a fish Regards James

Take a look at www.troutfisheryuk.com/home.htmHerring on the UKSWFF board fishes there and has had good sport. You could PM him for some info. If you fish there and tie your own, try not to look at James' tyings or you may be inclined to give up. They are superb.

Hi Stewart unrestricted back casting, a relatively new water. James is a great guy and although in his early 20's he has the grace of a seasoned businessman. He is attentive and not oppresive.
It is not overy big but the depth of the lake means excessive weed growth is avoided. Fish wll redilly rise to take the fly. Single fly only and worth a line wetting.

A unique fishery for Norfolk and Suffolk as the owner is a qualified instructor so well worth a visit for casting lessons alone. The lake is stocked with good quality rainbows and browns, stocking size is very generous for a small stillwater. And if your tired of pulling lures on a sinking line this is the place to learn about light tackle, small imitative patterns and floating lines. James is a mine of information and has a genuine passion for the sport.
Highly recommended.

James - I will pay you a visit in the next couple of weeks, probably for the evening rise.

Stewart Yup, I've fished Rocklands and it's one of the nicer trout lakes around. Good fishing & good value-for-money. Not a big lake but the trout are big. Very deep in the middle so no weed-growth which is a bonus. Loads of on-site facilities, tackle & flies etc etc
So, give it more than one GO! [glow=red,2,300][/glow]

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys.... Just to let you all know, surface fishing has been pretty spectacular today - Hawthorne patterns or black hoppers worked well all day, with sedges appearing later on this evening. Well grown on resident browns to 4lb have been caught recently but are getting very wiley as you would expect.
Hope to put some names to some faces soon......
James
