Looks like I have a confirmed pass for Saturday morning and thought I would try Rib Valley out for the first time. I usually go to Norton in Essex (been a bit slow recently) or Hanningfield (just a bit too far for a half day trip). Anyone got any tips? I was going to try a bung with some buzzers for the first time and hoped I might even get in a bit of dry fly action. Is it a decent venue for a flying (4 hour max) visit?

Alec, see this thread : flyforums.proboards53.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=stillwater&thread=1145722383&page=1I fish there a lot. It is buzzers under the bung/washing line or lures on an intermediate right now (white, orange or black/green). Head for the far jetty or the spots just past it, if the wind is OK there, or the near end of the left hand bank looking away from the lodge. Move around till you find fish. It's not a walkover, but it's fishing better than many places. Charlie

I'm at Rutland on Saturday and Rib on Sunday so won't be there, but just ask anyone for info who looks like they are catching well.
One of my friends will be there, fishing a 1/1 knockout.

Well it was a pretty tough hald day. Chap next to me took 3 in 90 mins but very few people seemed to be catching. Managed to get one for around 3lb so not too bad. Nice place, very scenic for being so close to London.

We fished the Airflo regional final there today and it seemed fairly hard going, especially in the afternoon. I had five but the winner had 15 and there were two 13's so some people obviously sorted it out. Mainly orange or black lures fished in the top three feet, but a few came on buzzers and DB's later in the day. The bung did not work as well as usual but I managed a couple on it Charlie

Airflow CEFF Regional Final at Rib Sunday 31st April. 18 anglers participated. Top individual, John Stevenson, caught 15 fish. Winning three man team, Team Raiders, total 28 fish. Average 6.6 fish per rod. Fishing not easy after very cold night and morning, water still coloured, most fish taken on black or orange lures on floating or intermediate lines. I hope the winners get their prizes from Airflow, as the awards did not arrive for the day (not CEFFs fault)
