Hi all
I have a boat booked on Ladybower for next weekend. If anyone's been there so far this season can you please tell me how it's fishing and what patterns seem to be working.
Thanks in advance. MJ

After somewhat of a delay I finally got to fish Ladybower yesterday. And what a pleaseant day it was to. Firstly i've never seen the water level so high (Bank angling is now quite restricted due to this). It was quite windy with very few fish seen up top. Although there where a few rises around the Rasberry Bay area.
My boat partner and I both hit our bag limit within a few hours. Seven fish falling for an ace of spades (Never blanked at this reservoir using this fly) and one to an orange booby, I also caught my first ever blue trout which was nice.
We seemed to contact shoals of rainbows about 100 yards from the rearing cages, towards the bank. And along the dam wall. Other anglers seemed to be doing very well to. Nymphing along the reservoir shore near to the fishery office proved to be quite productive.
Apparently, Alan Purnell is now offering tuition for beginners and more experienced anglers alike. Everything from casting, boat handling and even wild brown trout fishing on his stretch of the Derwent for anyone who's interested.
