Hi all.
I used to go to Lakedown, long since closed of course. If anyone can recommend any peaceful, pretty etc. stillwaters near-ish to Croydon, (say up to 2 hours drive), I would be mighty grateful.

Thanks, Glenn.
I've looked at the Hayes Lane place, bit of a hole in the ground, really. Chalybeate sounds good, I'll take a trip down soon to have a look around.

If it's not too far for you, have a look at Chalk Springs at Arundel, W Sussex. It is in very pleasant surroundings with some nice looking trout of varying strains.

Hi Take a look at this : www.southeastwater.co.uk/reservoir.aspThese waters were recommended on the old forum last year, and I intend to try them out this season. An easy journey for you, a blast down the A23/M23. Apart from these, I can second Jamie's recommendation of Albury, just a trot around the A25 from Croydon. HTH Russ

Jamie, Gonzo, Russ.
Thanks for the info. Albury looks good.
Anyone know Yewtree near Tunbridge Wells? Looks nice on their website.

I live in Leatherhead. I used to fish Albury weekly but find it a little tame now. I have gone on to the bigger, harder waters such as Bewl which is a couple of junctions around the M25 and then down the A25 I think. If you want to share a boat on Bewl sometime give me a shout. I am out the country from July 2nd til 9th though.
Regards
Chris

I haven't fished at Yew Tree for a couple of years, but it is fine - the main lake is a reasonable size and the brownie pool with small free taking brownies can be fun - unless it's changed of course.
