I am due to be working around prudhoe for the last two weeks in May and looking for some good fly fishing for salmon on the Tyne.
I have fished the North Tyne lots of times in the past but never this far downstream. Does anyone know what the fishing is like around there?
Apparantly I can get a ticket for £5 from the Spar in Wylam - sounds cheap and too good to be true. Is it in the middle of a town and full of trollies, carrier bags and dead dogs or just wide open water only good for the worm?
Any other suggestions for good fly water with a chance of catching would be appreciated.
Cheers guys

Hi Your right it is too good to be true. The permit is for trout and course fishing. a local told me the salmon fishing here is dead mans shoes. I dont know how long you are working in the area for , if its a while have a look at the Big waters angling club website. They have a fair length of water above Wylam on the right bank. The season ticket costs about £45 with the entrance fee and as far as I know the membership is open.
