I had a couple of days booked at the tale end of last season near Sennybridge and a beat just below Brecon which I think was Glanusk Ty Mawr. I arrived the night before and stayed B & B only for the heavens to open and to be confronted with chocolate coloured water the following day. The booking was through the Wye Usk foundation and to their credit they arranged a days Salmon fishing the following week in lieu of the 2 days trout which were no longer in season. This was pure luck but I fished the only pool on the Glanusk beat that following week and caught 2 salmon. Both fish were coloured but a hen fish of around 12lb was my first Atlantic fly caught salmon so the trip was well worth while. I look forward to trying for some trout on the Usk later this year.
