I am going on holiday to Filey for easter. Does anyone know if and where I can buy a permit to fish the Yorkshire Derwent near Filey, also I am interested in the chalkstreams near Beverly, I don't know thier names. Thanks, Dave.

As mentioned earlier, Mulberry Whin is the main chalkstream fishery in the area. Costa Beck near Pickering is also a chalkstream and permits there are very cheap I hear. As for fishing the Derwent I believe that permits are hard to come by. Its lovely water near Hackness though and equally as stunning in the Forge Valley.

Driffield has a very good chalk stream, with plenty of trout. If you fancy something bigger on the end of your line, why not try the River Esk, salmon and Sea trout season has started, also plenty of areas on the Esk (FREE) to catch brownies too. But you will need a salmon licence though. £65 from most Post Offices. Egton Estates will be your best bet for Salmon and Sea trout, which cost approx £30 per day.

Thank you all for your information, I will be going to Filey tomorrow (easter monday). Woldedge, I will probably fish the Esk for Seatrout and Salmon, I mostly fish the Towy in summer for seatrout and the Welsh Dee in autumn for salmon so it will be nice to try a new venue, are the migratory fish plentifull? Many thanks, Eddy
