Just to give you guys an update. I went (or tried) to get on the Ribble and the Wyre on Saturday and was very deep and fast flowing. UNFISHABLE. Was gutted as I bought a new pair of waders and didn't get to try them out. Which brings me on to the Waders and where I bought them, Ted Carters in Preston. The guys was really friendly and I got a pair of Snowbee Waders and Wychwood wading boots all for £100 and they would have cost double that from anywhere else, what a nice guy. Anyway back to the fishing, ended up spending 3 hours on Barnsfold and had 3 rainbows in blustery conditions so alls well that ends well.

Hi Oli, The E A River Line for the Ribble / Wyre is 0906 619 7733 (60p a min) and after heavy rain it's always worth giving them a call, as it may save you a wasted journey. Did you buy yourself a life jacket?? If you fall in the Ribble or Wyre then remember to keep your mouth closed, otherwise you'll end up with dysentery and god knows what else!

Fished Ribble at mitton on sunday morning, I must say it was well worth getting up at 4:20am to make the journey to see the mist rising from the water and the new born lambs in the fields. Magic!
Anyway the fishing wasn't too great as we only fished until 8am and then left due the being rained off. Chris (Seaweed) missed quite a few bites but not sure how many. I missed about 4 bites on the czech nymphs I still have from our Welsh Dee meeting. I think looking back that I should have been using smaller flies now but still had a great time and got to try out my new waders, at last. Well impressed!!
Anyway that's it for now, just to say to everyone in the North West that we should all make an effort to post our catches on the site a bit more often and feel free to use this thread.

Hello there!
I had a look at the Mitton water with a mate of mine a few weeks ago. Can't say I was too impressed although for a fiver it's got to be worth a dabble. I found the fish to be in pretty poor condition - as if they had been handled poorly before (my mate reckons its a bit over-fished). How did you find the wading? I was surprised to find smooth sloping bedrock in a number of places and narrowly avoided a ducking on a couple of occasions!
If you're interested in the Wyre, why not get a day ticket from the garage at St Michaels and have a day roaming around with a spinning rod for pike. I used to fish it all the time in my summer holidays and used to catch absolutely loads of jacks and a few bigger fish ( my best went over 20lbs!). If you have a look at the deeper water on the outsides of bends around the village and up nearer Churchtown, you should get a few pulls.
Let me know how you get on. I'm always on the lookout for decent river trouting round here - I tend to head north into Cumbria for most of mine...
Matt

Hi matt, good to hear from you mate. Yes my mate and I were going to head up on the Lune last season for a day but we ended up going elsewhere. I guess we will get up there at some point this season.
Never fished the Wyre as the only time I drove to St Michaels it was flooded back in early April. Have joined Wigan DAA which has another stretch of the Ribble as well as the Douglas and the Wyre. Not bad for £22.
Keep in touch and please feel free to post any catches from the North West Rivers on here.
