I go past this stretch of the Test on the train every day and this morning it looked more like the chocolate river in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory than a world famous chalkstream.
More rain forecast over the next two days, so the best of luck if anyone is due to be fishing any beats near Kimbridge this weekend.

Kimbridge meadows is a tributary next to Kimbridge. It is very narrow and horseshoe in shape. SHort casting is only required and thus a 7.5-8ft rod is sufficient. However, there are large fish and so a #5 wgt or so is required. Very sheltered and so ideal in windy conditions. Can't really be considered as normal chalkstream fishing though!

Kimbridge meadows is a carrier off the main river, with a grid at each end, fishing is as salmo Trutta suggests. Its stocked with large fish in the main 3lb+ with an odd double.
Unfortunately for us we had fished at Bullington Manor Upper Test (river Dever I would have called it) the day before, great bit of water loved our day there, Kimbridge meadows the following day was therefore a big disappointment.

Don't bother with Kimbridge Meadows, it's an poor excuse for a chalkstream fishery. It's like a canal shaped pellet pig lake.

By the sounds of it the stretch that looked so filthy this morning is probably Kimbridge Meadows.
It never seems to be that clear, even at the best of times. Certainly nothing like the main stretch of the Test through Kimbridge.

If your looking for some top quality chalkstream fishing go for the Piddle in Dorset, It's in a different league. The Lambourn is also excellent www.eatcakedesign.co.uk/Lambourn.html at similar prices to the Test. I have been dissapointed with the Test and Itchen compaired to these 'minor' chalkstreams.

I used to occasionally fish the Test but went right off it as it was just a very expensive way of catching pellet pigs and the same could be said of some Kennet fisheries.
The only two beats that I really enjoyed were firstly the Middleton fishery at Longparish - stocked but all browns, good hatches and a beautiful setting.
The second was a day that I won in the Atlantic Salmon Trust auction in either its first or second year ironically at Kimbridge. My brother and I fished the private water of Kimbridge House and had a superlative days fishing with mostly wild browns up to just over 4lbs. The owner asked us to limit our take to one brown each but to try and remove a few of the unwanted rainbows.
We opted against taking any browns but went away with 20 rainbows to 7lbs and the thanks of the owner.

I was also looking at a stretch of the Kennet at Barton court, anyone fished it? I keep meaning to give it a try. I've had a look at it and it looks pretty nice with some good browns. John Wilson has filmed a few sequences there. There is a website www.riverkennet.co.ukIt's expensive at up to £70 per day (£60 after the mayfly) but it's got to be better than Denford just up the river where you pay nearly as much to catch 13" rainbows, albeit in very nice surroundings but a finless stockie is a finless stockie.

I hate to disillusion you SB - but when I last fished Barton it was as full of the "rainbow wonders" as I've seen Denford. A pity they put them in anywhere on the Kennet.
