Yep, I'm a Stroft user, for dry fly that is. Great stuff, great presentation, but I've never gone down to 3lb test...

Hmmm...will mess about with it tonight and see if I change my mind. Morgan, I bought some stroft and had very similar experience to that which you had - only this was at the fly end!! Again it was the half blood knot. I switched knots to the Orvis knot and... no problem. It's strange, I have also tried the highly rated super shinobi and that has performed inconsistently too

I have had the same problem with, Stroft a few times. In fact I think I've lost a couple of fish due to it (I refuse to blame my tying ;D)
Also my eldest had the problem. Everytime he tied the line to the fly and went to pull it tight, the knot just slipped right out. It's very odd.

I do not have any problems with knots , for my own peace of mind have just done several knots with the 0.08 mm which is 1kg or 2.2lb not a bother in any way , just a straight forward half blood no tuck , give it plenty of tail and lots of spittle cannot see any slip I think the 0.08 is too light my tippets and personally use the next ones up
The 8 kg and 10.5 kgs are a special order which I keep in stock for a few of the norway salmon fishers, the 10.5 kgs is only 35mm in diameter
All forum fishers are more than welcome to put it to the test in the shop , would be interesting to see their postings afterwards
Top stuff ,top knots, top diameters, top price hugh

I must admit I haven't been over impressed by Stroft so far but I'm prepared to persevere with it simply because of the good feedback on the forum. It's not often you guys get it totally wrong! Allrounder ;D
