I would say Backwinder Seatrout www.backwinder.no/seatrout.htmIt is beautifull. I don't have one actually but I read good reviews. It is simple for me that mean robust. It is for me good value for money. Probably my next buy for my 7wt rod but first I am looking for the trout model.

BFR Modula 95,
Well engineered barstock reel with spare spools for £7.
Tightlines had them on sale.

I'm a big fan of Lamson Waterworks reels I have a ULA, 3 Velocities and I've just scored a limited edition Litespeed Series 1, 3.5 courtesy of Ebay for £164 ............................. Yippee!
They are great reels, beautifully engineered and with the best/smoothest drag mechanism I've come across.

Is it true that setting tension on the drag of the Backwinder also increases tension on the retrieve (like the early loop reels)?

I have handled one too at the British Fly Fair when testing rod and line, very nice piece of kit. The drag is the same in both directions but didnt seem to have any adverse effect. I use loop traditional, it and works on the same principal but the backwinder seemed to be much smoother I have my eye on one but just booked a trip so have to wait and drool.
