O.K. so I am a tackle junky and I am in love with Sage! There is one born every minute! I love thier gear but not the prices. So where should I go in the U.K. to get the best deal on a rod ,reel and line? I know about buying them in the States but would prefer to have a u.k.guarantee. Thanks, Rod.

doesn't our friend in Holland (the handsome stick) offer you a cheaper than Uk price and warranty? I don't really sell tackle any more. But I do still have all of the contacts and would be happy to supply forum members. If you let me know what you're after I'll get you a price. I can supply at around 20% cheaper than UK RRP. Regards

Surely if a guarentee is any good it is not limited to the UK! If THe Hansome Stick is able to help what will the guarentee status be? Incidentally, it is kind of him to offer to help. We all watch with interest. rusty

In fact there is a difference 'on paper' between the warranties in the UK and US and Europe. Due to some absurd European law the term 'lifetime' isn't legally recognised so Sage have to issue a number of years. A European Sage warranty is 30 years. I say that the difference is 'on paper' as Sage will still cover the rod for life. (Sage will confirm this with a phone call.) I imagine Rod would like a UK warranty so that he could return it (if needed) to a store in the UK rather than send it to the US or a European Sage supplier. As Charlie rightly points out, a Sage warranty is global and you can slam you rod in a car door anywhere on the planet

Richard, as I understand it, it's even better than that.
The UK agent (can't remember who but been named on this site a few times) will actually process a broken rod for you WHEREVER you bought it, in return for the 20 Quid or whatever the amount that is cited in the warranty.
Can't say fairer than that, can you ? I've got a US bought rod and am happily covered.

thats true - the down side is that unless they have a spare piece in stock it has to go back to the usa anyway -which can take a while - the warranty doesnt appear to be a straight swap, unlike redington/guide who usually replace in three days, - i was lucky enough to get a replacement section in about 5 weeks but others have been up to 12 weeks,

ebay.com is your best bet
dont make the mistake of getting a custom rod because there is always a chance you wont get on with the rod and then they become very difficult to sell

If you buy from the US, its' 2 for one anyway! so you can afford to break one! Only joking, but SAGE will honour their warranty on a factory rod, without quibling, don't believe all the Myths spread by UK dealers and manufacturers. Turnaround will be about 3/4 weeks though.

I am interested in purchasing a sage 11' No 6 rod for loch style fishing from a boat and would welcome any comments from members regarding best place to purchase and on its performance dont - its the worst loch style rod i have ever used in the xp form - the 10 foot #6 XP is a joy -the 11 foot feels top heavy and unbalanced in the hand and is hard work IMHO - i thought it might be me so i lent it to a couple of others - they hated it too. modern loch style fishing doesnt really demand an 11 foot rod -i have a couple of 10'6" rods but overall the 10 footer is the go to rod now - just my two penneth.
