This has been a very useful thread - I've ordered the new Wheatley slit foam model as a consequence. Bought it off their website so I'll see how fast they deliver and write a short review.

Thats good charlie i will look forward to that. I stopped by gac today and spoke to davy mcphail about the scierra box. He decided to get one out of the wrapper to have a look. The compartments opened easily, i made him open every one, but just when it was looking good the rubber seal fell out. Oops. I was tempted to ask him to open some more but i didnt want to bug him. In hindsight i probably should have for peace of mind.

Recieved a Snowbee alluminium box today as an alternative replacement for the Scierra box. It seems good. Flat foam on one leaf, 8 comparments on the other. Although the slit foam is my preference i will still keep this box. The compartments are spring loaded and opened easily by releasing a small latch. Lightwieght but i dont think waterproof as it has a ventilation hole in each compartment. Hinge seems ok and it is dark racing green(no glare). Overall a much better construction. This might be a cheaper alternative to the alluminium Wheatley boxes that a lot of you guys use. Well done Snowbee! I dont know if this box is new on the market. Anyone tried these?
