Sods law.... I am going up to Sutherland for the start of the broonie season and my fav rod snaps at the tip. Anyone know how long it takes for Grays to turn round a replacement?

You should have it back in plenty of time for going to Sutherland .

Buzz,
I too had a 3 day turnaround - posted a broken section on a Monday PM and received back a new section on the Thursday AM!!
I took the opportunity to commend the H&G team today at the NEC gofishing show. Credit where credits due and all that.

I sent the Plat XD off on Monday and received the replacement section today (Wednesday) together with my £20 . They said because it was only 3 weeks old it must have been a manufacturing fault. God bless em....... The customer service has made up for that excuse of a rod that i own called the GRX! Well done Greys

Buzz< I have to agree re Greys - superb service. They have just replaced the top half of my rod because the tip ring was grooved - after 4 years. You can take it that my next rod will be Greys ....but not a GRX, I own an 8.5 4/5 wt and the handle is too slim and the couour is pants ......purchased unseen .........why dont u like your own GRX - what size ? I'm going to try the greyflex mark 2 for the birthday .........

I have a GRX 8'6" #4/5 . It just doesn't have any backbone. Too floppy. The handle and colour don't bother me. Out of all my rods by far this is the worst, no character.

For the record. The top section broke again. Bummer..... No gold heads , i don't really use lures, no excess strain...... Design fault, maybe?

Greys have an excellent replacement service, their 7' grx #3/4 was a cracking little rod for the monies also the 4 piece 9'6" grx was a good value for monies rod , the others in the group have nothing to say about them , but those two were fine. The 7' did need a dt4 line to work it properly. Rods with any manufacturing faults come to the fore fairly quickly , some decent casting and a couple of decent fish will usually find any problems Most rods that are broken usually envolve bead heads, pulling the line down on the very top section sharply etc
