Has to be the "woodland fresh", which has now been changed to "fresh", one though, the rest don't work

I've tried so many different brands, none of them work. I'll have to keep an eye out for the Avon stuff. One thing that does work for sure is a nice big fat one, cigar that is.
I was in Scotland last year, happily fishing away all day with no problems until the light faded and the wind dropped. Oh my god! Millions of them descend on me, I was near some reeds and boggy ground and I literally couldn't see through the cloud. as I was wiping them away they were landing behind my hand again. As I made it back to my car, running at this point and considering suicide I found that my car was crawling with them. Instead of blue it looked more like grey. I opened the door and jumped in. Safe I thought, opening the door had sucked another few thousand inside the vehicle. On the way back to the hotel I had to open the window to allow then all to be sucked back out. My worse midge nightmare ever.
As I understand it, midges bite everyone. Those that have an allergic reaction get the itchy spots. A quick thought on repellent effectiveness, is it the case that most work to greater or lesser degree? Possibly a repellent can repel 80% of the midge leaving 20% to gorge on ones blood.
The government should do something about them, I despise them and the midge.

Avon Skin So Soft in the blue / green bottle (as Sandy says, they changed the name from Woodland Fresh to Fresh), both work just as well.
Mrs. Nicepix and I go to the Med' twice a year and it keeps the mozzies well away. Without that stuff on we get mauled. We give away bottles of it every year to friends and neighbours in Cyprus. It seems to work on everyone.
Last autumm my mate and I arrived at a woodland fishing spot. Within seconds we'd both suffered midge bites. I covered myself in SSS then passed the bottle to Bill, ever the gentleman me, and neither of us were bothered again all evening.
I can't recommend it highly enough and if you take advantage of the special offers it's cheaper than chips.

Try Mosquito X made by a company called Reimans. My wife was forever getting eaten alive on holidays, tried every potion on the market till someone recommended this. We went to greece and she never got bit once apart from on her ankle and this was the only part she never applied to. I tried the Jungle Formula a few years ago and well, i think it was more of an attractant than a repellent. Asda have just started selling the Mosquito X its pricey at £9.94 for a small bottle but worth every penny failing that you can buy it at any airport for half the price. I highly recomend it peeps.
