Hi Dom,
I was in Sportfish in Reading today and I think theyre also having a carp on the Fly day soon. I wonder which Sage rod they reckon is the only one we should buy to do it? Theyve done the Xi2 todeath for SWFF and pike fishing.

Sheephouse Farm in Maidenhead used to have some double figure Grass Carp, which I guess are still there, but it's a while since I was last there. I have been there when one has taken a small gold head GRHE, unfortunately not mine. Last time was about 2 years ago and it put up an amazing scrap for over 20 minutes. Was carefully returned without netting by its captor. Since witnessing this I have tried casting the same to them when they are showing, but never had so much as a look

I prefer the pellet fly imitations as it's more fun to get a carp off the surface. I've had fish up to 18lbs on a 6/7wt Greys GRX rod with a 9lb Preston Powerline tippet and I've had no problems with getting them in.
