I am right handed, cast with my right hand and wind with my left. This is how I have always done it and it seems natural to me. In playing a fish, I adjust the tension on the line by the use of my right forefinger, over which the line runs, and find no difficulty in winding with my left hand. Ditto

It is all about using your best hand for what requires the most effort or control.
About 90% of sea anglers wind with their left hand. It all depends if moving the rod or moving the reel is key.
If you talk to someone highly experienced in big game fly fishing like Alberto Salvini you will find he agrees with me.
I am not dogmatic about this this just state my preference.

Like lots of others I started out sea-fishing.Spinning reel was always left hand wind, muliplier right hand. When I came to fly-fishing,left hand wind seemed natural.Never even tried opposite way round.

I find that right foot forward is better for casting accuracy otherwise either foot leading can be ok subject to being comfortable. Distance casting is better with a kore opne stance. Also as a right hander I find lhw reel more natural when playing fish,

I think you should always use whichever hand you write with to cast and hold the rod. Winding a reel takes very little strength.

this might sound stupid but i cast sometimes with my left hand just to practise and to show off once in front some bad annoying casters,,,,and for some reason it gives me a mechanical sense of what im doing,,postions and such ,,,as i have to concentrate on exactly what my hand rod line is doing and as to when i fish with my right hand im more a feel caster and maybe bad faults creep in .
