Rich, just find the nearest train station (Bath or Bristol perhaps?) and someone can pick you up en route. Given the number of people there should be someone coming past a train station on the way or who can perhaps pick you up from elsewhere.
It won't be cold!

For those thinking of getting a train I would go to Bristol Parkway rather than Temple Meads in the city center, Its easier to get picked up from there. I don't mind calling in at Parkway on the way down. Its not far off the beaten track for me. Anyway theres still plenty of time to get travelling arrangements sorted, the rest needs to be sorted yet.
I got a feeling that countryboy will be right about all the boats being booked out so early in the season so dates may need adjusting?

Uh oh. 26 people with names down already. We could probably book the whole venue boat wise - that'll pee them off!
Should be the best one yet!

We probably need to book the boat and the banks! There are 16 boats at blagdon Is anyone seriously thinking of camping, (not on a campsite). I could probably get you in a field less than 500yds from the lake, you could hire a chemical loo, but you would have to provide your own food, water, ect. It might be a bit cold though. Oh and like Allrounder, i wouldn't mind fishing the bank, infact, i'd love to ;D

Camping is my intention. Might have to bring a several sleeping bags, blankets and duvets, but that's the fun part. I'm sure this years sloe gin and cherry brandy will have matured sufficiently by March.
Mind you - a warm bed and the ability to shower at the start and end of the day are sorely tempting... Actually, that may assist in preventing overimbibation of the liquid libations... is there a travelodge thereabouts? ;D

Actually, that may assist in preventing overimbibation of the liquid libations... is there a travelodge thereabouts? ;D Aha! The reality of March on the Mendip Hills is starting to sink in! ;D There is travel lodge type accommodation in Bristol and Bath. The nearest to the lakes is probably the Premier Travel Inn at Winscome which serves Bristol Airport and is around 7 miles from Blagdon Alternatively the Bristol Water site has a list of local B&Bs, including the details of where to hire electic engines for Blagdon if you don't fancy rowing into a sou' westerly www.bristol-water.co.uk/pdf/fishing/accomEat05.pdfAllrounder ;D
