i woudl leave them alone if they work - i halved mine from the original length, then half again to try and stop the drogue hooking up in slightly deeper water - on a coarse day they are too short now - not really happy with the para - good in deep water and the abiltiy to steam off without recovery is great, but it comes fast too often in shallow water to be safe. the standard drogue with a trip line seems a better option on our lochs

One note to point out is that if any of the guys compete then the drogue cant be weighted, indeed swivels would be classed as weight...

Hi There,
A quote from the CEFF Rules.
Drogues A single unweighted drogue is permitted, of no more than 60 x 60 inches or 25 square feet. It may be fitted with functional metal fittings such as small link rings and swivels. The only control device allowed is a 'G' clamp. The drogue may be fixed on either side of the boat such that the drift is square to the wind. The drogue must trail no more than 15 feet behind the boat.
Best Regards

Which brings us back to the reason for my original question "The only control device allowed is a 'G' clamp." I spotted the use of the word 'a'. If two are allowed wouldn't it say 'The only control devices allowed are G clamps'? It seems pedantic but I'd like to fish a competition or two this year and I don't want to look stupid. Well, not any more stupid than I look already!

dont you mean more stupid than we look when almost going ass over tit and very nearly overboard whilst trying to pull the d**n things in.Or is it just me that does that? Maybe its my boat partners fault!

Treenymph, you have at last sussed that i am trying to get rid of you!! No honest I was practising steaming off with the droguo still out.
Thanks Rutlander for your comprehensive reply, i'll shorten me ropes and use me 'G' clamps in future, bet I still catch the drouge in the engine, I seem to lack concentration sometimes, possibly because i'm deep in thought about why i'm blanking!!
