One guy in question who has partnered me 'twice' in a National is Adrian Necci.. of Bewl fame... the guy is a phenomenal angler I must agree AD is one of the most talented anglers I have ever met and he is not alone at Bewl his cousin Bob Barden is pretty handy ;D

I posted this question on the last thread as well. How do you get to fish for your country? Iwould like to add that I have nothing against compitition, have never fished in one in over 30 years of fly fishing. Qualifliers? are they just advertised and you turn up or at least telephone and then fish a couple of rounds to qualify, obviously catching enough fish. hi ,i will try to answer your question. the qualifiers.these are normally for the local club champions(in the case of scotland sana registered clubs)each club is allowed 2 entries .normally 1st and 2nd place in local club comps (but not always).if you are not in an affiliated club you have no access to the national championships.hope that helps jim

Just a wee question ,How many members do you need to form a club officially ?I ask because a few friends and i have formed a small fly fishing club 8 members to date would the likes of SANA recognise such a small club?

SANA do have certain rules not exact but. 16 members. been in existance for 2 years. have at least 4 outings a year....etc but if you have 8 guys who fish together you are more a bona-fida club than alot of them... so go for it. But why not join an already established club,

Hi Doods,
You are off a wee bit with the SANA rules, they are:
3. MEMBERSHIP Membership of the Section shall only be available to Angling Clubs. Essential requirements are:- a. Club must be a member of SANA (main body) b. Club must have not less than fifteen members paying an annual subscription c. Club must have been in existence for at least two years d. Club must hold at least two competitions per annum on river or loch
This effectively rules out non club anglers in Scotland from taking part in the National Championship and thereafter representing their country. Ironically, an Englishman living in England and being a member of a SANA club could qualify to fish for Scotland through the process.
My vote is to allow all scottish anglers access to the National Championship. That way we would definately win all the internationals all the time!
If the result of the Mentieth International yesterday is correct as posted on this site, then all credit to those involved for a superb season. Well done.
