when i was fishing it last year, the one i caught(lets not mention size lol) was covered in sealice, i realeased it but felt **** at the state the lice could leave it in. also the gelnarriff gets a good run at this time of year, with alot bigger seatrout, not to far down the cost from the margy

as rrw says its a bit early for any decent fishing yet, we had the Six Mile one last year but it won't really be until July that it kicks off. One thing of note if you are planning to fish the Mourne at Sion Mills. I was up on Friday on the way to the Finn and called in to the shop. They were refitting after a fire and theft but were saying the rules for fishing the Gravenue have changed - there are now only 4 none club member day tickets allowed and you have to have the DCAL license. Last year there were so many day tickets fishing it (esp v early) that the locals were getting p--sed off and so this is the result It will be interesting to see how they try to manage this though, I can imagine it could end up in fisty cuffs as people try and get on of the 4 tickers ;D E

gravenue is a disaster waiting to happen. i often wondered how the sion mills club puts up with such heavy angling pressure.
still i would have no interest in fishing that graevnue anyway. u can't relax and enjoy it. better on up at paddy's and the bye

yes its a disaster in the making all right, its a lovely pool to fish but just no pleasure when its packed with spinners, wormers and prawners You take your life into your hands fishing Paddys etc, I never use a wading staff but I would consider buying one just to fish there Suppose with the locals its a 2 edged sword, its the day tickets which keep their membership so low but at the same time it brings so many people in to fish their water. C'est la vie

More reports would be great. The 6MW thread last year ran for weeks.
If everyone were to give a quick indication of where they fish that would be a start.
For me it would be.
1. Belfast Anglers Waters above Holywood. 2. Strangford Lough for Sea Trout. 3. River Inver. - Sea Trout and small Brownies. (and Mullet) 4. Six Mile Water - Total novice, never caught on it yet. 5. Hoping to try Carlingford Lough this year.

Try the river maine at cullybacky, good sport for wet or dry fly. The stretch at the creamery is good. A chance of salmon or dolligan [cant spell that] later in the season. Reduced rates for decal permit holders. The biggist trout ive caught there was about 1 1/4 pound, most are about 3/4, discounting the undersized fish. Theres fast stretchs and deep pools, but last saturday the river was quite high and fast flowing, caught one 3/4 pound returned 5 or 6 smaller. roll on the better weather.

ive yet to find a river where it imposible to get a line in the water. do u mean it is dead water unsuitable for the fly? I think 'most' is an over statement. plenty of stretches of good fly water on the moy. bait snobbery will always be prevalent on a fly fishing board im afraid

TWP to get good fly fishing on the moy you need good money lol. about 90% of it is a big 8ft canal dont forget. glenarrif river is also to hard to fly fish on, not because of the water, but because of the overhanging trees etc
