What is the most affordable way to fly fish in rivers/streams for trout. I would like to have a go this year when the season opens. I have scoured the internet and some of the prices are very high ( some £200+ for a days fishing ). Is this normal? If so I may have to get a second job if I want to give it a go!

Start your season with a visit to the upper Teify. Seventeen miles of fishing plus four high moorland lakes. Good March Brown fishing in April. Glorious countryside. Ten pounds a day! Contact Moc Morgan - he will see you right. www.troutwales.org/Revisit Carmarthenshire in June/July and fish the Towy, Teify or Cothi for salmon and sea-trout. Average cost 15-25 quid a day for miles of AA waters.

Thanks for that, glad to hear it is available to everyone ( £10 is a lot more accessible than £200+ ). Thanks again.

Jalume, depending on where you're based, I'd recommend getting onto the waiting list for the Salisbury and District Angling Club: www.salisburydistrictac.co.uk/You may have to wait a couple of seasons (at current levels) but your choice of waters is pretty spectacular once you're in - and all for around £130 a year! Which, as you've already discovered, is about half of what you *could* pay for a day on some almost contiguous waters... Theo PS you can also get day tickets on some of the waters - just contact the Secretary, Ricky Polden, if you're interested -
