My friend José Rodrigues with same ... Fantastic barbels & carp, the 2 best fighters for me on a fly rod in our rivers. The barbel in the middle seems a bit different from those I know, looks a bit like the spanish ones wich are incredibly big. Barbel fly fishing is growing fast here in France. If you're interested jocapesca take a look at that blog : barbe-rousse.gobages.net/index.php?op=ViewAlbum&albumId=151&blogId=32That guy has hooked very big specimens of barbels on nymphs. His advice : do not use your favorite & expensive rod because it could explode if you hook a big one.

French team will do it again, as usual.
Why : because our competitor are masters in light techniques on shallow waters, and pretty good in heavy nymphs for fast flowing rivers as well.
Better wonder who will be second and third.
With less chauvinism I think that Czech Republic, Poland and Italy could do well too.

Having seen the French at work on what must be similar rivers in Spain 2003 I would have to agree with you. The Italians also will be a force to be reckoned with, many of them used silk lines for extra fine presentation and reaped the rewards.

Hello people
Obviously the Team that will win it will be some with alot more experience. And not only for that.
I never saw a World championship where the are persons, portuguese in this case, that tell everything to everyone about the fishing in the rivers where it will happen the Championship.
This is curious and can only mean that the Portuguese are so much experience in fishing for small fish but wild that they don't loose they'r confidence with the comments and flies that are beeing posted here.
And the French are the best!? Yes they are but put everyone in the same conditions, related mostly with money, and logistics, and maybe things could equal with a lot more teams. I think french do a grat work but they are only racing against 3 or 4 teams.
Best regards
